Meet Felix, the Division of Employment Security’s (DES) chatbot designed to help you navigate unemployment claims. Felix can answer your questions 24/7. This AI-powered chatbot provides information about many topics, from filing your application for benefits to completing the weekly certification process to helping employers with their wage reports.
Felix is available 24/7 to assist with questions about:
- Unemployment eligibility and how to apply
- Documentation needed for filing
- Work search requirements and weekly certifications
- Overpayments
- Appeals
- Employer tax questions and NCSUITS

Felix also is in the MyNCUIBenefits claims system! In MyNCUIBenefits, Felix can answer your questions when filing your claim, keying in your work search activities, completing your weekly certification or filing your appeal.
How It Works
Felix is available on des.nc.gov and in your MyNCUIBenefits account. To get started:
- Click on the red bird icon to open Felix.
- Select whether you are an Individual or an Employer.
- Type your question.
Tips for Using Felix
- Ask a question. For example:
- "Where do I log my weekly work searches?"
- "How do I file an appeal?"
- Keep it short. Specific, short questions are better than long ones. You can always ask follow-up questions if needed.
- Try rephrasing. If the answer isn’t helpful to you, try asking in a different way.
- Limit personal information. Entering your ID number or address can cause confusion and prevent Felix from answering your exact question.
